About
Egyptian engineer, based in Portugal, focused on systems that scale.
I'm Mohamed Elshafeay, a senior software engineer specializing in high-scale backend systems and cloud architecture. I'm originally from Egypt, based in Lisbon, Portugal, and I work across distributed systems, data infrastructure, and product development.
Most of my work lives in the unglamorous middle of a system: the message pipeline that has to stay fast under load, the ingestion path that feeds search, the database that quietly grew past a billion rows. I care about systems that are measurable, repeatable, and cheap to run — and about making the change reviewable rather than heroic.
Over the past few years I've played a major engineering role in multiple SaaS products that scaled past $1M MRR, alongside AWS modernization and distributed-systems redesigns. Today I work as a senior engineer on production systems at real scale, while building my own software products on the side.
